I thought it would be fun to do something like a favourites post. They’re big on YouTube, but since I don’t have a proper video camera yet, I’ll blog about it instead! To keep things interesting, I’ll do one fashion item, one skincare, one makeup product, one book/media item and one blog/YouTube channel.
1. My CAT Briony ankle booties in the colour black.
These are super cute and comfortable. I probably wear them three or four days a week. They strike the perfect balance between edgy and classic and are waterproof (a necessity for Vancouver winters).
I paid about $100 Canadian for them, but the price seems to vary a lot. If you’re in Canada, the included link above has them on sale right now!
2. The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil.
I know I just did a review on this, but it has legitimately changed my skin for the better. (I’ll post a skincare routine soon). It’s super gentle, gets everything off with minimal work, and leaves my skin super soft and hydrated.I have plenty of other options for cleansers, but this is the only one I reach for anymore.
3. Clio’s Lipnicure in Tension Red.
It was a tough call between this one and some of the Kylie Lip kits that I got recently, but there’s something about this colour in particular that makes me feel powerful. It’s a beautiful true red, not too pink, not too orange, and not too blue toned either. I’m a bit picky with reds, but this was perfect as soon as I applied it, and I reach for it all the time!
Funny story, it was a wonderful accident, I had no intention of choosing this colour, check out my review for the full story!
4. Bloom, by Estée Lalonde
If you’re into the beauty blogging or YouTube worlds, you probably know about Estée Lalonde. She’s a fellow Canadian living in London and she recently released her book called Bloom. And it’s glorious.
I made it through the whole thing in a matter of days. It’s a fairly easy read, but her stories are interesting and so very relatable. While we don’t see eye to eye on everything (that’s what makes people interesting!) I feel as though I do see some of her spark in me and I can only hope to be as successful and inspiring as she is.
5. BiiBiiBeauty / BiiBiiBap
Another inspiring Canadian. Yay! And also Métis, like me!
This girl was one of the reasons I started blogging. I’ve been following her since her time in Korea, and it’s been so much fun to see how she’s changed over the years. She comes across as very open and genuine, not only on her beauty blog and channel but also on her vlog channel where she has gone as far as to document her plastic surgery experiences for the world to see. She has a wealth of knowledge about skincare, and I have been able to learn a lot from her and make some good choices to add to my own skincare routine.
If you haven’t seen her content, you should go check it out.
That’s it for November! It’s been a good month with some fun new discoveries and some good old favourites. What do you think? What are your top 5 right now? Let me know in a comment.
