Winter 2016/17 Fashion Must Haves

Winter is upon us and it may be time to do a little bit of updating. Here are my top 10 winter fashion must-haves for the 2016/17 season.

1. Ankle Boots

You can never go wrong with a great pair of ankle boots. With or without  a heel, they’re a wardrobe staple. They’re stylish and versatile, going well with skinny jeans and a t-shirt or tights and a dress.

CAT  $150
Asos $58
River Island $90

2. Cozy Sweaters

What’s cold weather without a cozy sweater? Whether it’s a chunky knit or a soft cashmere, you’ll look polished and blissfully warm. A good sweater goes with just about everything!

Anthropologie $218
J Crew $251
Nordstrom $99

3. Faux Fur Stole

There is something so luxurious about the look of fur. If you’re looking for something just a bit more on the subtle side, you should definitely look into investing in a nice faux-fur stole. It’s more versatile than a vest or a coat with a faux-fur trim, as you can take it from one outfit to the next as a scarf or cute collar piece.

Forever 21 $18
Le Chateau $100
Zara $50

4. Leather Jacket

A good leather jacket is a must-have for every wardrobe. You can take any outfit from plain to edgy and cool just with this one accessory. You can easily pair it with casual jeans and a t-shirt and it also looks great thrown on top of a feminine dress. Leather goes with everything!

 5. Midi Dress

Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean you can’t wear a dress! Change it up a bit with a modest midi dress with a longer sleeve and you can be flirty and feminine without feeling the chill.

H&M $35
ASOS $113
H&M $35

6. Over the Knee Boots

Over the knee boots have been popular for a while now, and it looks like they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. They ooze sex appeal and keep you warm and stylish at the same time. These are also really versatile. They look great layered over jeans, and they look super sexy with a short skirt.

Stuart Weitz… $798
Steve Madden $130
Jeffrey Camp… $225

7. Red Bag

Something about a nice red bag just feels like the holidays to me. Even more so when it’s paired with beautiful gold hardware. A well made red bag will not only last you all winter, it always makes a beautiful statement piece that adds interest to any outfit.

YSL $2921
Coach $395
H&M $50

8. Statement Coat

It’s winter, and you’re going to need a coat. Why not make sure it’s something beautiful? With so many options in styles and colours, you’re sure to find something that fits your budget and your style. This is the perfect time to go a little wild, as it’s also a piece that you will take off once you’re inside.

Burberry $2595
Calven Klein $158

9. Sweater Dress

The ultimate lazy-girl winter outfit. The sweater dress. It’s so easy to wear, pairs well with tights or leggings if you get cold, and works with just about any shoe. This is a classic piece for those rushed mornings when you just want to pop something on and go. No matter which one you choose, you will always look great.

Cupcakes and… $125
H&M $30
Polo $345

10. Turtleneck

A nice turtleneck is an absolute staple for the winter. There are plenty of collar heights available if the really bulky feel around your neck isn’t your thing, but no matter what cut or style a turtleneck is a very classic shape that you will always be able to wear. You can pair it with just about anything, but what’s really popular at the moment is the sleeveless dress or slip-dress.

Anthropologie $98
Splendid $58
Wilfred $85

What are your winter staples? Which of these pieces do you already own, or are you planning on purchasing any? Let me know in the comments!
